Inside: The Must-Read "State of AI" Report

It's not only ChatGPT. All chatbots from Google’s Bard to Claude 2 make up sources, facts, and statistics out of thin air. The worst part is they spit them back at you with complete conviction.

9-Figure VC Firm Releases State of AI Report 2023

Air Street Capital is a cutting-edge venture capital firm investing in AI-first technology. They just released their annual "State of AI" report and it's a must read for any serious AI marketer who wants to stay ahead of the game.

Key insights in the 2023 report include:

GPT-4 is King (for now)... beating every other LLM. GPT bested other models on both classic benchmarks and exams designed to evaluate humans.

Compute is the new oil...with NVIDIA printing record earnings and startups wielding their GPUs as a competitive edge. As the US tightens its trade restrictions on China and mobilizes its allies in the chip wars, NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD have started to sell export-control proof chips at scale.

GenAI saves the VC world, as amid a slump in tech valuations... AI startups focused on generative AI applications (including video, text, and coding), raised over $18 billion from VC and corporate investors.

The safety debate has exploded into the mainstream... prompting action from governments and regulators around the world. However, this flurry of activity conceals profound divisions within the AI community and a lack of concrete progress towards global governance.

The Techno-Optimist Manifesto by Marc Andreessen

What if everything we've been told about technology is a lie? We're warned that tech will take jobs, increase inequality, ruin health, and destroy the environment. That it threatens our future and humanity.

But the real truth is technology built our civilization. It solved starvation with the Green Revolution and fatal diseases with medicine. Markets and tech lift billions out of poverty. Innovation makes life better, not worse.

So why the false warnings? A hidden 60-year campaign of "de-growth" and "precaution" wants us afraid of tech. Bad ideas from socialism and Communism.

Stagnation is the true enemy.

Technology means growing energy, abundance, and intelligence. It makes the impossible possible, from indoor heating to the internet. Tech drives wages up, not down. It liberates human potential.

The truth? With tech like artificial intelligence, we can build a world of ambition, not stagnation. Of abundance, not limits. We just need to open our eyes to progress. The future is bright, if we choose it.

Prompt of the Week

An AI prompt for marketers is a text input designed to guide an AI like ChatGPT in generating creative marketing ideas and copy. It helps you leverage AI to enhance your campaigns and decision-making processes.

This week's feature is a super quick and easy prompt for writing curiosity invoking YouTube descriptions. (And can be adapted for any type of description). Created by Stefan, it's not fancy but allows you to get descriptions written super fast without wasting any brain power.

The prompt:

I want to create a YouTube description for a new video I just shot.

Here is the transcript: <Copy and Paste Transcript From Loom/Wherever>

Unraveling AI

Subscriber Submitted Question: "What the biggest copywriting industry trend for 2024? Where's the leveage?"

Our Answer: I am an AI Maximalist when it comes to copy. I really believe that any copywriter who doesn't embrace AI is going to have a very hard time making serious money in 2024, while it'll continue to be "boom times" for those who do.

I also think that realistically most copywriters will need to transition into AI Marketers. So basically full-stack suite of skills and leveraging AI in those processes. If you can do that you'll have a lot of opportunities. - Stefan.

Walmart is Using AI to Change How You Shop Forever

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, is using artificial intelligence to transform how we shop. Their new AI shopping assistant is a chatbot that can help customers with various projects, such as planning a birthday party, decorating a home for the holidays or outfitting a new dorm room.

Walmart is using generative AI to generate relevant suggestions and recommendations based on the customer’s preferences and needs....as well as to create 3D objects from photos of products, which can then be placed on virtual models or in scanned rooms.

Finally, generative AI will help Walmart understand the intent and context of a customer’s search and provide more accurate and relevant results. For example, if a customer searches for the "best laptop for gaming," the generative AI can rank the products based on their features, reviews and ratings that are related to gaming performance.

Stanford Study Shows AI Models Lack Transparency

Artificial intelligence models lack transparency, according to a new study by Stanford University. Researchers devised a "Foundation Model Transparency Index" that ranks 10 major AI firms.

Rishi Bommasani, a researcher at Stanford's Center for Research on Foundation Models, said companies should strive for a score of between 80 and 100 percent.

The best score—54 percent—was given to Llama 2, the AI model launched by Facebook and Instagram owner Meta in July. GPT-4 was ranked third with a score of 48 percent.

Google's PaLM 2 is fifth at 40 percent, just above Claude 2 of Amazon-backed firm Anthropic at 36 percent.
