ChatGPT Is A Liar…Here’s How to Make AI Tell the Truth

It's not only ChatGPT. All chatbots from Google’s Bard to Claude 2 make up sources, facts, and statistics out of thin air. The worst part is they spit them back at you with complete conviction. If you’re not careful, blindly following AI could get you in serious trouble with your employer, a client, customers, or worse.

Recently, our team caught AI fabricating clinical studies, making up statistics about the stock market, and even attributing quotes to famous people who never uttered the words. As the legendary copywriter Claude Hopkins said, “Never cut corners on research if you want advertising that sells."

Actually, Claude Hopkins never said that. But the chatbot Claude 2 told us he did. And when we asked for the source, we received this message, “I cannot find a primary source where he directly stated this exact quote.”

That's not to say chatbots aren’t a powerful research tool. They are. But you need to do your due diligence. You can crosscheck with google and spend a bunch of time doing so. Or, like everything these days, there's an AI tool for that. And AI marketing expert Alex Stewart found one of the best.

He says this AI research wonder-tool crawls and 'archives' the internet with much greater accuracy than popular chatbots. You can ask it any question and it'll provide real citations for every source. You can even ask it to search certain websites too like PubMed for papers.

Unraveling AI

Subscriber Submitted Question: "I'm hearing a lot of rumblings lately that Claude 2 is now better than ChatGPT. Is that true? Which chatbot is the AI Marketers team using?"

Our Answer: We definitely use both chatbots, but are utilizing Claude 2 more and more. Now, big picture Claude 2 has some advantages over ChatGPT. It can read, analyze, and summarize uploaded files out of the box. It can process more words than ChatGPT. (About 75,000 words at a time). And Claude can access information after September 2021, which is the cutoff for ChatGPT.

ChatGPT did have a 'browse the web' feature for a while, but that's gone offline and we don't know if or when it's coming back.

But the main reason we've been using Claude 2 more is for copywriting and creative tasks in general. Lately, the chatbot just seems to be providing more human-sounding outputs. In addition, we're getting more from it as an ideation machine. We don't have proof this is true outside of our own experience.

A great way to test this yourself is by entering the same prompts in both ChatGPT and Claude 2 and then comparing the outputs.

Tool to Try

Altered - Gone are the days where you have to hire a professional voice actor on Fiverr and wait a week to get back a 30 second clip. With Altered's AI technology you can change your voice to any of their carefully curated portfolio or custom voices and create compelling professional voice performances.

Now, there are quite a few AI text-to-voice services out there. But Altered really stands out. Plus, they allow you to tweak the output with an impressive array of options like pitch, prosody, power, age shift, and gender shift.

Listen to a short clip we recorded using Altered.

*This was recorded with the default mic on a MacBook pro. With any type of professional mic, this would sound flawless.

There are endless use cases for Altered. Just a few include:

Midjourney Releases Game-Changing 'Inpainting Tool'

This week Midjourney debuted a generative infill feature that users have already dubbed a potential game-changer. The feature allows you to add entirely new elements within pre-existing images that fit the original image’s style. It's known as “inpainting."

The AI automatically generates new objects or subjects, modifying the image by including them as though they had been there to begin with. It can also remove, replace, or adjust what’s already in the image automatically, based on what a user types.

It’s an AI process that’s incredibly intuitive and efficient — and instantly speeds up and simplifies image editing.

"There's a lot of fear around it for a writer - but I don't believe it is going to replace us," he says. "I started experimenting with AI in writing six or seven months ago, and it was of course slightly scary. But it's like having a fantastic editor on demand."

Chowdhury's fascination with AI speaks to his background in tech, one which included co-founding the music discovery app Shazam, later bought by Apple for $400 million.

AI tools are playing a key role in his next book The Spy - helping Chowdhury bounce thoughts around, generate potential outcomes for certain scenes, and rephrase sections to help with pacing.
