Subscriber Submitted Question: "I'd like to train a GPT by feeding it some Kindle books. I guess I'll  need to convert the Kindle books into PDFs first? Can anyone recommend a method or tool for doing this?"

Our Answer: To train a GPT model using Kindle books, you don't necessarily need to convert the books into PDFs. Instead, you can convert them to a format like TXT, which can be directly used to train the model. However, if you do want a PDF output here are a few easy to use tools.

Using Calibre:

Step 1: Select "Add books" and import the Kindle file to Calibre to strip away the DRM.

Step 2: Choose the "Convert books" option and select the output format as PDF

Using Wondershare PDFelement:

Step 1: Choose the Kindle book and select "Convert Books" or right-click and choose "Convert Books."

Step 2: Select the output format as PDF and start the conversion process. Once done, save the PDF to your computer.

Tool to Try

Suno - Suno is a brand-new AI music generator. The company's mission is to build a future where anyone can make great music. Whether you're a shower singer or a charting artist, they want to break barriers between you and the song you dream of making. No instrument needed, just imagination.

You can use Suno to create background music for podcasts, ads, video content, or presentations for a 100% unique experience. It's also great for developing custom jingles or sound logos that make your brand instantly recognizable.

Suno offers a free plan that lets you create 10 songs a day. Their paid plans increase that limit to 500 songs a day and include commercial use rights. To test Suno's capabilities, we had it create an ode in a 1950s big band style dedicated to our dear mascot, Ponty-8.

It's pretty simple. First, you have the option to input lyrics. We utilized Claude AI to compose some for us, aiming for a Sinatra-style, toe-tapping chorus. Then, you describe the style of music. And finally give it a catchy title.

In less than 60 seconds, the AI generates two separate tracks. We only wrote a chorus for this test, but it's capable of much longer tunes. Take a listen below to hear the final version of "The Bot for Me."

Apple Develops Breakthrough Method for Running LLMs on iPhones

Apple GPT in your pocket? It could be a reality sooner than you think. Apple AI researchers say they have made a key breakthrough in deploying large language models (LLMs) on iPhones and other Apple devices with limited memory by inventing an innovative flash memory utilization technique.

LLM-based chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude are incredibly data and memory-intensive, typically requiring vast amounts of memory to function, which is a challenge for devices like iPhones that have limited memory capacity. To tackle this issue, Apple researchers have developed a novel technique that uses flash memory – the same memory where your apps and photos live – to store the AI model's data.
