Mastering The Art Of ChatGPT: OpenAI's 6 Tactics For Optimal Results

The company behind ChatGPT, OpenAI, released a Best Practices guide to help users produce their desired outputs in the quickest amount of time. The guide begins with "The Art of Clarity."

A cornerstone of success with GPTs lies in writing unambiguous instructions. By providing detailed instructions, users minimize guesswork and yield results more closely aligned to their intent. Here's a few ways to achieve this:

  • Tailoring your query with as many specifics as possible.
  • Requesting the model to assume a persona.
  • Using delimiters for distinct input sections.
  • Defining the steps for task completion.
  • Giving examples to illustrate the desired output.
  • Stating the output length.

Why Marc Andreessen Believes AI Will Save the World

Human intelligence is the lever we've used for millennia to create the world we live in today: science, technology, math, physics, chemistry, medicine, energy, construction, transportation, communication, art, music, culture, philosophy, ethics, morality.

Without the application of intelligence on all these domains, we would all still be living in mud huts, scratching out a meager existence of subsistence farming. Instead we have used our intelligence to raise our standard of living on the order of 10,000X over the last 4,000 years.

What AI offers us is the opportunity to profoundly augment human intelligence to make all of these outcomes of intelligence – and many others, from the creation of new medicines to ways to solve climate change to technologies to reach the stars – much, much better from here.

Prompt of the Week

An AI prompt for marketers is a text input designed to guide an AI like ChatGPT in generating creative marketing ideas and copy. It helps you leverage AI to enhance your campaigns and decision-making processes.

This weeks prompt helps you come up with more powerful prompts. That's right, it leverages ChatGPT to help you become a better prompt engineer . We ran a few tests of this one asking to "help us write with more emotion"... and it came up with some very useful prompts. What loved how you could create niche specific prompts with it as well, not only generic ones with little real world value.

Here it is:

💡
I want you to become my Prompt engineer. Your goal is to help me craft the best possible prompt for my needs. The prompt will be used by you, ChatGPT. You will follow the following process:

1. Your first response will be to ask me what the prompt should be about. I will provide my answer, but we will need to improve it through continual iterations by going through the next steps.

2. Based on my input, you will generate 2 sections, a) Revised prompt (provide your rewritten prompt, it should be clear, concise, and easily understood by you), b) Questions (ask any relevant questions pertaining to what additional information is needed from me to improve the prompt).

3. We will continue this iterative process with me providing additional information to you and you updating the prompt in the Revised prompt section until I say we are done.

Unraveling AI

Subscriber Submitted Question: "Question for Stefan. Currently, ChatGPT spits out a lot of misinformation. Is this a kink that will be eventually worked out as the technology is streamlined? Or is it part of the nature of AI?"

Stefan's Answer: It'll be fixed. There are already models for GPT that are connected to the internet that are more accurate. And models from Google etc as well. The important thing to remember is that these AIs are "Generative" and "Predictive." This means their job is to generate text that in a sequence that it "predicts" you'll be happy with.

The models weren't built to be Google or to give you answers. But that being said, there's a massive financial incentive for the models to be highly accurate, so as time goes that will increasingly happen.
