Amazon Rolls Out Generative AI Shopping Tool Rufus
Meta is releasing Llama 3.1, the largest-ever open-source AI model, which the company claims outperforms GPT-4o and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet on several benchmarks.
It’s also making the Llama-based Meta AI assistant available in more countries and languages while adding a feature that can generate images based on someone’s specific likeness. CEO Mark Zuckerberg now predicts that Meta AI will be the most widely used assistant by the end of this year, surpassing ChatGPT.
Why eBay is Adding More AI Advertising Tools for Sellers
While Amazon hogged plenty of headlines this week with another gigantic Prime Day, competitors are adding advertising features to boost their own e-commerce capabilities. Activision Blizzard is Reportedly Already Making Games with AI
A new report from Wired paints a picture of an industry that has already quietly accepted the technology, at least in some major AAA studios. Speaking to Wired, one anonymous source who once worked at the Call of Duty publisher claims that the company promised generative AI would only be used for concept art and other materials that wouldn't make their way into the final game.
However, the article claims that by the end of the year, Activision was already selling AI-generated skins in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 via the Yokai's Wraith bundle.

Dental-Care AI Startup Pearl Raises $58 Million
Pearl, an AI startup focused on the dental industry, has raised $58 million.
The company announced its Series B in a news release Wednesday (July 24), saying it would use the funding to expand its line of dental AI products.
“At present, Pearl’s machine learning and computer vision tools solve a core challenge in dentistry: inconsistency in diagnostic accuracy, which directly impacts the quality of patient care,” the release said. “The company’s AI serves as a real-time aid to help dentists read patient x-rays, deliver consistent, objective, and accurate diagnoses, and clearly communicate findings to patients with precision, clarity, and confidence.”
