Motorola Releases AI-Generated Ad Made with OpenAI

Motorola launched its first fully AI-generated campaign made with the help of its agency, Heaven (Hopscotch Groupe). The campaign reportedly underwent four months of production and research, with the team utilizing nine different AI tools, including Adobe Firefly, to generate and animate thousands of AI-generated images.

The ad’s soundtrack was AI-generated, interpolating the company’s famous "Hello Moto" jingle. The campaign also includes social media marketing initiatives and partnerships with fashion influencers Edward Sad and Leeloo, who each use their unique styles to complement the phone’s colors.

OpenAI’s New “CriticGPT” Model is Trained to Criticize GPT-4 Outputs

OpenAI researchers unveiled CriticGPT, a new AI model designed to identify mistakes in code generated by ChatGPT. Half of Fans Believe AI Technology Will Improve Sporting Experience

That's according to a global survey by IBM, with mobile consumption and a desire for new experiences driving optimism. The study of more than 18,000 sports fans in ten countries found that although live linear television or streaming services remained the main channel of consumption for most (64% of fans), mobile devices and digital platforms were increasingly popular – especially among younger audiences.

China Is the Runaway Leader in Generative AI Patent Applications

China has requested far more patents than any other country when it comes to generative AI, the U.N. intellectual property agency said Wednesday, with the United States a distant second.

Over the decade starting in 2014, over 38,200 GenAI inventions came from China. That's six times more than from the United States, which had nearly 6,300. They were trailed by South Korea with 4,155, Japan with more than 3,400 and India with 1,350.

AI Firm ElevenLabs Sets Audio Reader Pact With Judy Garland, James Dean, Burt Reynolds and Laurence Olivier Estates

AI audio firm ElevenLabs has set agreements with the estates of Judy Garland, James Dean and other legends to use their voices to read books, articles, PDFs and other text material to mobile users of its new Reader App.

ElevenLabs envisions users tapping Garland’s legendary pipes to read the original L. Frank Baum novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” or Laurence Olivier to deliver a Sherlock Holmes story, in addition to a range of other works. ElevenLabs emphasizes that it has struck license agreements for authorized use of the legendary voices as part of the “Iconic Voices” feature of its app.

Prepare Yourself for the AI Smartphone Wars 

Smartphone innovation has largely slowed to a crawl over the last few years. But that might be about to change thanks to artificial intelligence. At least, that’s what smartphone makers hope. Google kicked things off last year, including AI features with its Pixel 8 line of smartphones.

Study Shows "Need for AI to Drive M&A"

A new survey by leading international law firm Mayer Brown has revealed that business leaders are increasingly aware of their organizations’ ability to keep pace with developments in AI and technology. Of those surveyed, over seven in 10 are concerned that they are being outpaced by developments in AI.

The survey, which includes insights from 197 business leaders found that 72% of leaders of financial institutions and 83% of leaders of investment firms believe the need to advance their existing AI capabilities will be the primary driver of M&A activity over the next few years.
