The Top AI Features Apple Announced at WWDC 2024
Thanks to Apple’s newfound — and heavy — investment in generative AI tech, the company had loads to showcase on the AI front, from an upgraded Siri to AI-generated emoji.
Apple announced a deal with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT, OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot experience, to a range of its devices. It introduced new photo-editing tools to remove objects and people from photos. And it rolled out an AI capability to proofread, rewrite and summarize text across content, including notes to emails.
Flyhomes Launches World’s First AI-Powered Home Search Portal
Flyhomes launched in 2016 and has focused on helping consumers toward the end of their homebuying journey. Now the company is using generative AI to answer questions from prospective buyers. The question-answer system is powered by OpenAI and other models.
Flyhomes CEO Tushar Garg told GeekWire it has a “super high” level of accuracy and compiles with the Fair Housing Act to ensure questions that would violate housing discrimination laws are not answered.

Oil and Gas Industry Hops on Generative AI Bandwagon
AI offers great potential for cost savings, accident reduction, and lowering greenhouse gases by analyzing more diverse data. Additionally, it can be used widely across the workforce, not just by programmers and data analysts.
"Extracting this data from the copious amounts of data generated by drilling activities has historically posed a significant challenge for industry leaders," recently wrote Tim Hafke, content marketing specialist with AlphaSense. "That's where Gen AI comes in."

The French startup is just over a year old but has raised huge sums of money and is vying to take on OpenAI and become Europe’s AI champion. Mistral AI is building large language models which underpin applications like chatbots popularized by ChatGPT.
AI-Generated Ads Produce $27M in Revenue for Charter's Spectrum Reach
Following a partnership with Waymark to deploy its AI tools for quick creation of local ads, Spectrum and Waymark are reporting that in 2022, Spectrum Reach's team locked in $11.5 million in ad dollars with Waymark's AI spec spots and commercials. In 2023, they increased that number to $27 million.
The companies also reported in a recently published case study that Spectrum Reach and its clients used Waymark’s AI to boost operations across the board, producing nearly 7,000 rendered commercial projects.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new AI-powered features for WhatsApp Business apps at the global Conversations event in Sao Paulo this week.
The 40-year-old tech billionaire said: "Now, our vision is not just to build a single AI assistant, but also to enable lots of different AIs that can serve different purposes, including for businesses.
"Any business should be able to quickly stand up an agent that can talk to your customers, provide support, and facilitate commerce."
Walmart Tests In-App Generative AI Shopping Assistant
Walmart is beta testing a generative AI-powered shopping assistant in its mobile app, the company announced last week. The assistant will show up for select customers in categories such as home products and electronics. Shoppers can ask for advice using natural language phrases like “Which TV is best for watching soccer?”
