What the Google Antitrust Ruling Could Mean for Advertisers

Google’s loss in its federal antitrust case may mean huge changes for the company, web users and digital advertisers. It could result in a big hit to parent company Alphabet’s bottom line; more and better search choices for people; and lower-priced, more effective advertising. 

Combine that with the new types of AI-powered search, and it’s easy to see how there could be a real challenge to Google’s dominance for the first time.

“This has happened at a perfect time for their competitors because you’ve got OpenAI, you’ve got Microsoft and the fundamentally different conversational search underpinned by AI, which I think completely transforms the consumer experience,” Amelia Waddington, chief product officer for search intelligence vendor Captify, told MarTech.

ByteDance Joins OpenAI's Sora Rivals with AI Video App Launch

ByteDance has expanded its offering of a software that can generate videos based on text prompts, joining a growing number of Chinese tech firms entering an emerging market also targeted by ChatGPT creator OpenAI.

Jimeng AI, developed by ByteDance-owned Faceu Technology, is now available on the Apple App Store for Chinese users, Reuters' checks showed on Tuesday, following its release on Android on July 31.The launch of a text-to-video model by the parent of short video app firm TikTok follows a series of similar model releases in recent months in China.

Sonova Launches Hearing Aid with Real-Time AI, First in Market

 Switzerland's Sonova on Tuesday introduced a hearing aid that utilises real-time artificial intelligence to improve speech clarity from background noise, the first such product in the global market, sending its shares 5% higher.Along with the hearing aid, named Sphere Infinio, Sonova is launching a new Infinio platform.

"The launch of both new platform and product should be a surprise to the market, because nobody knew this technology and this benefit (real-time AI), which is quite significant, will be available for anyone already this year," CEO Arnd Kaldowski told Reuters in an interview.

OpenAI Co-Founder Schulman Leaves for Anthropic, Brockman Takes Extended Leave

John Schulman, one of the co-founders of OpenAI, has left the company for rival AI startup Anthropic.

In addition, OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman is taking an extended leave — through the end of the year — after nine years at the company to “relax and recharge,” the company confirmed.

Schulman posted about the decision on X today, saying that it stemmed from a desire to deepen his focus on AI alignment — the science of ensuring AI behaves as intended — and engage in more hands-on technical work.

Reddit acquired Memorable AI, a creative testing startup that specializes in tailoring ad creative based on an advertiser’s previous campaign KPIs, it announced Thursday.

The acquisition puts Reddit in a better position to compete with Google, Meta, Amazon and TikTok, which all built or expanded their AI-based creative generation and optimization tools within the past year.The acquisition will allow Reddit to run creative optimization across multiple types of media, including display and video.
